Works well. It is not thermostatically controlled so the water is constantly heated no matter the outside temperature. It holds plenty of water for the outside cats. The other day when it was windy and 14 degrees out it did get ice on the top around the edge but it never froze over completely. If it had not been windy it would not have had ice. The stray cats appreciate the water in the winter. There is a indicator light that lets you know it is working. So far so good.
We have been snowed under for over a week with freezing temperatures every day. I have outside cats (and other creatures). This bowl has literally been a life saver for the animals. Any water bowl I put outside froze in 2 hours. This bowl has been plugged in and working for 9 days now and has operated consistently 24/7. The animals, especially the nocturnal ones are able to drink whenever they want. It is sturdy, especially when filled with water, and has not turned over or spilled. The cord is insulated and is flexible metal on the outside. Even with it plugged in outside in falling snow and dampness there have been no electrical issues. It has kept the water warm and has not frozen over once despite the winds. I do have it under my carport but one side is exposed to the winds. I do recommend keeping it as sheltered as possible for the safety of the product and the animals drinking from it. It is made of non BPA plastic. The water does evaporate in the open so you may need to fill it once a day depending on how much your animals drink.I absolutely recommend this product!
Well, it lasted 7 years (having it on half the year) so I guess that's something, but...Cleaning it just now I was shocked pretty good through my hand - it was plugged in but the switch was off. I was just wiping the inside with a paper towel.I wouldn't risk my cats anymore - threw it out.Hard to know how to review something like that.
Love this! We got one for our outside cat last winter and it was perfect! Easy to assemble, and refill when needed. Our cat had no issues with frozen water! It’s not noisy, and even after have -20° weather NO leaks! And we will be reusing it this coming winter as well!
Dish is a lot bigger than I expected, but works well. It’s in my garage for a stray cat and his water was kept at a great temperature.
Bought for my outdoor cat for the winter months. Worked well.
Great product and keep the neighborhood cats well hydrated this winter.
keeps water even at -30 degree windchill. sturdy cord with safety cover
I feed a feral every day and this bowl kept his wet food from freezing. It's purrrfect. I highly recommend
Using for one outdoor cat. Would have preferred a smaller size, but it is perfect for keeping water from freezing but not being too hot.
Worked great during our days long freeze and any below freezing nights for the feral cats in my neighborhood, and any other critters who came along. We got into the lower teens and the water never froze at all. I purchased 2 for myself and 1 for a neighbor. I appreciate it being so reasonably priced that I was able to do so. They are a very good size and made of strong BPA free plastic. Plus they have the really nice weatherproof/chewproof totally covered cord. Many claim this but it is often ridiculous spiral binder like. I really wasn't worried about chewing on these, but that is another sign of a high quality, thoughtful product I learned about from the heating pads I purchased. This is a winner in my book I am very greatful I found.
For the last several years, I have been taking care of several feral cats. I built them a cat house kit and winterized it. I've also added heat, but that only heats a portion of the house. The end where the water is still gets cold. The last few weeks have been cold and blustery with many days below zero Fahrenheit. Every morning, I cracked the ice out of their water bowls to give them fresh water. I would do the same every evening.I finally decided to get a heated water dish, and it has been a game changer. Their water no longer freezes, even when it is below zero. It holds a decent amount of water. I noticed that with the heated water, the cats are more interested in drinking it. There are many times when they have drank every drop, and that means I'll have to order another one. It's easy to set up. You just plug it in. I only wish the the cord was a little longer. I added an extension cord to plug it in. I've only had it for a few weeks, so I cannot address how long it will last. I know that the cats' health will improve with adequate water supply. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.
Arrived on time. Would like a little warmer temperature. In these single digit temperatures, the birds are enjoying it, although not purchased for that purpose.
Worked well for 2 winters. 3rd winter it has failed.
Appears well constructed but wish it held a little more water
So far so good. I bought 2, had 1 for 2 months the other is new, use them for the birds and squirrels in the winter, love that it has a power light so I know that it's on and working! I've tried others and they froze up. I have to fill them more because they aren't as big as the others, but not a big deal..Definitely recommend them!*UPDATE* we got 2 feet of snow in the northeast , they got buried and never froze, I just dug them out and they were fine...We've also have negative freezing temps and they are still fine ... Definitely worth the money!
I was pleasantly surprised by the generous size of the water bowl, additionally the cord is well protected and the so far it has worked well to keep the water from freezing for my neighborhood feral cats.
This product is exactly what I was looking for. It keeps the water thawed through the night and cold winter days but does not heat it so much that it is burning my dog to drink it. It is simple to use. It has been very durable and the quality appears to be one that will last for a long time. It is easy to clean out. The design is smart. I have yet to use the refill option as I don't have anywhere to hook it up at the moment but I like the idea of the reservoir and hose hook-up. It is reasonably priced and I would recommend this to any pet owner who has to endure cold temperatures haha.
I waited to review this because I knew we were in for an arctic blast. It was -25 below zero this morning in Northwest Wisconsin and the water was NOT froze. Only a little frost build up on the side just above the wateritself. Keep in mind that we put a styrofoam cooler over the top of it with a hole cut out of the side. . .works perfectly. The only reason why we chose to do that was to hopefully prevent major evaporation and we think it did. I would have taken a picture but it -25 below zero. . .that's not photo taking weather in my book, so you'll all have to take my word for it. I would definitely buy this again. The outdoor cats are almost as pleased as I am. YAY!!!! I would give this 10 stars if I could.UPDATE: The winds shifted and was blowing directly into the styrofoam hut that we have over the bowl. This did cause some freezing of the water but it wasn't froze solid. We turned the cooler and boom. . .problem solved!! Lol. . .it was -40 below. . . I cannot complain about the performance of this bowl at all. Amazing!Update #2: Went through another wicked cold Wisconsin winter and still going strong. One of the most satisfying purchases I have ever made on CrAmazon. Thank you so so much.
I really liked this heated bowl, but it just stopped heating after 3 months. The light still shows that it's getting power, but it just stopped heating about a week ago, so the water now freezes.I bought this bowl in Jan, and it ran great from Jan to mid-Apr, through the coldest sub-zero temps here in CO. But now it's spring, and the temps are doing crazy jumps, occasionally almost 80 during the day, still below freezing at night, and every temp in between. The heated bowl no longer heats, or if it does, at least not consistently, because now I have to sometimes break ice in the morning because it freezes over.Even so, I would still buy the bowl again, because when it was below zero temps for weeks, this thing kept the water warm and the ferel cats were able to have a water source when all their other sources may have been frozen.Even the raccoons loved it, and would frequently put their hands in it (without any food), just for the warmth, although I had to clean it out every morning because of their dirty little hands too, lol.At just under $25, I'd buy a new bowl each winter. But, if it would last 6 months, so it would last from Oct to Apr, that would great.I'll be buying a new one next fall, so we'll see if that one lasts longer than this one did.
