We bought this for our 3-month-old mini dachshund because otherwise he inhales his food. He definitely has to work harder now, but he doesn't seem to mind one bit. It's made mealtime much less frantic. The bowl itself feels sturdy and stays in place well while he's eating. My only real complaint is that it can be a little annoying to clean because food gets stuck in some of the grooves. That said, it's a small tradeoff for how well it works. At $8.51 at the time of review, I think it's a great value if you have a dog that eats too quickly. It's made a noticeable difference for our puppy, and I'd definitely buy it again.
This is an awesome bowl and just the right size for my dog. My dog is one to want to eat her food in less than a minute. She gets fed 1/3 cup 4 times a day of homemade food...ground chicken with veggies mix. I was hoping to get a bowl not too big with such a small amount of food. This was perfect as you can see in the picture. It takes he alot longer to eat. She recently has had acid reflux needing smaller feeding amounts but also slow eating. The bowl stays in place with the rubber on the bottom. It is very much light weight so easy to travel with. It is made of a bpa free material which I love. Just the right thickness. I would definitely recommend.
Got for our frenchie. My other dogs thought it was so. I’ll I had to get another one for them. Helps them eat much slower.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Made a Huge Difference! This slow feeder has made such a difference for my dog! Instead of inhaling his food in seconds, he actually takes his time eating now. He’s not gulping everything down, and mealtime is much calmer. It’s sturdy, easy to clean, and works exactly like I hoped!
I ordered this for a foster bulldog of mine. He consumed 1 3/4 c of food in < 3 minutes from a regular bowl and this slowed him down to 10 minutes. He learned how to pick it up and dump it to get the last few kibbles!
Good sturdy bowl. The fact that my puppy refused to eat from it is not a reflection of the quality of the bowl. It is fine. It's my puppy that didn't like it.
Slows Hank the Tank, my big boy boxer, down from 30 seconds to 10ish minutes which I’m calling a win! Perfect for flat faced dogs - shallow enough not to be too frustrating and challenging enough to slow him down. I’ve only fed dry kibble and clean up is easy. Bowl is sturdy and does not slide around. Five stars!
This is the second bowl that Lucy (my chocolate lab) is going through. She used to scarf down her food so fast she would lose it in 10 minutes. Although she has mastered the bowl after seven years it still takes a bit for her to navigate through it. I strongly recommend this bowl for those speedy eaters!! By the way, the only reason I replaced after seven years was it got a little rough to the feel. Very styrdy bowl!
Be aware that different shapes slow dogs down different amounts. I found the purple flower didn’t slow my dog down hardly at all. In contrast, the blue one really does slow him down. The crevices are deep. Especially on the outer edge. Also, as other people say, SIZE UP. The small size claims to hold two cups, but really, you have to form kind of a mound/pile in the small one — it’s basically overflowing when filled with two cups. Maybe it comes down to the kibble size and that’s why, I’m not sure. But either way, there are basically no drawbacks to getting the large size. The large size spreads out the food a lot more. And puppies eat even more than large dogs, so I don’t think anyone would get size small for a puppy. So just get the size large.
My GSD can inhale a bowl of food in under 2 minutes. This feeder bowl has been such a valuable food accessory for my dog. This has slowed her feeding down to 10 minutes. (But she is a GSD and I notice she has a pattern for how she works the bowl for food.)
My dog (Pomeranian) has an illness that makes her eat like a vacuum cleaner. I found the purple one and ordered it. It came today and I used it to feed her. She usually has her bowl empty within 45 seconds- tonight it took her more than 6 minutes to finish eating. Yay, success!! Highly recommend this bowl for fast eaters.
My little Yorkie had gotten to begging much more in the last year and was eating incredibly fast. Just got this today and gave him breakfast and he went from finishing the meal in 1 min to about 4 or so. If that’s not incredible results I don’t know what is.Also I was really surprised at the quality and the non slip bottom. 100% recommend this.
Fantastic bowl! My dog was gobbling down food so fast it was making him puke, after getting this I’m not even joking, it takes him 8-10 minutes to finish his food. He hasn’t had an upset stomach since. I definitely recommend it!
My Belgian Malinois would eat his food at a dangerous fast pace. He gets a combination of wet and dry food and eats a lot at his two feedings a day. Concerned that he might get bloat, we bought this dish. He eats much, much slower now. It is easy to clean after each meal too.
Good product but unfortunately this didn’t work out for our dog. We were hoping she would get used to it, but she has a fat snout and she can’t get to all the food in between the narrow puzzle edges. She gets a mix of mostly wet with her kibble, so it really presses the moist food into the bottom and she gets discouraged to even eat after a few bites.Overall, the bowl itself is good quality. The bowl is sturdy and has non slip grip to prevent sliding or pushing around. It’s pretty easy to clean with the dish sponge. I didn’t use the dishwasher- I think the excess heat may wear the rubber quicker.I think it may have worked out better if we only gave kibble to our dog, as it seems like it may be easier to get out, since it doesn’t smash down into the bowl. Our dog is an American Bulldog, Boxer and and Dogo Argentino mix and has a pretty big flappy snout, I think this design would work well as a slow feeding dish for a slimmer snout that can access the narrow design.
This slow feeder has really helped my Doberman slow down while eating, and we've had no issues with it so far. I love that it has a non-slip bottom that keeps it in place on our tile floor, even when he's excited for mealtime. It's ready to use with no assembly required, and the size is perfect for a large dog. It feels sturdy and well-made, and I think it's durable enough to last for many years. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it for other large dog owners.

So, I have a rescue pittbull who likes to see how fast he can inhale his food and I'm not joking when I say, he was eating 1 1/2 cups in 30 seconds flat. He was getting upset stomach and barfing up his food recently.Tried it for the first time tonight and it took him 14 minutes to eat it. It kept him busy and he only tried to push with his paw once, and continued to slow eat. I may try a little less slow version of the same brand, but I LOVE it already. I'm sure he'll shave off a few minutes when he's used to it, but seriously this thing is amazing. My other dog already eats slow so he doesnt need one, but I would buy again for sure! It's Jax Approved 🐾🐾💙
I have a female Bull Terrier named Tipa. She would spin constantly after eating chasing her farts. She ate her food very fast and this was not good for her digestive tract. Bull Terriers have a weird shaped spout that makes eating a good way to cause gas? We just didn't realize at the time it was just that. We had her on meds to try to stop the spinning. Nothing worked and we gave up. I happened to see these bowls and read some of the reviews and I thought this may be the trick? This bowl has been a God Send. The spinning and farting has all but stopped. She looks for farts at her butt, but they aren't there and she lays back down and goes to sleep. No more spinning for hours. The more she eats from the bowls she understanding how it works. She's much slower eating and still getting all her food. I highly recommend this if you have a fast eating dog.

With a nine week old English black lab that absolutely inhales his food, we have been giving him his allotment of food each meal by splitting it in half and then giving him the second half 5 or 10 minutes after he finishes the first. Naturally that requires us to be a bit more involved in his feeding but a slow feeder allows you to put the entire meal in and let them have at it. I like the look and feel of this fun feeder. It has enough variation to slow things down and I like the rubber feet that helps hold it fast. The reason for four stars is not any design flaw but more of the fact that this probably isn't good for young puppies or small dogs whose tongue is not very long. The video shows my dog after about 60 seconds and you can start to see the frustration build. About 10 seconds after this video ended, the bowl was flipped over and all the food spilled. For now I'm going to keep it away and reintroduce it later and see if he's able to get everything out without getting frustrated. Because labs are so food driven, this may not work, but definitely worth a try in order to slow them down.
