So, I got this scratcher on black Friday sale. It is TOTALLY worth the $23 I paid for it. However, there is no way I would pay full price $35. It is 3 cardboard scratching boards screwed together with basically drywall anchors. The "wood" frame, is maybe 1/4" plywood or something. I guess time will tell regarding durability. The dangling toy balls are typical plastic jingle balls. However, the string (and I do mean string) holding them on, I'll be surprised if it holds up to a single kitten. Lastly, the instructions were a joke (and not even for the right item, lol). That being said, the cats were immediately intrigued and seem to like it. So, for $23, I say do it. At $35, that's totally your call.
This is surprisingly more sturdy than I thought. My cats haven't used it as a scratch post, more of a perch. I'm giving this 4 stars because the assembly was a little tricky. I did it alone, I recommend having another person for a faster assemble. It took about 15 minutes and you have to screw these plastic screws into the cardboard part to attach it all. The only bad part was it yave me a blister.Overall the cats seem to enjoy it. It is a good size for the kitten. My 11lb cat can sit on it but she takes up the whole top.
It was easy to assemble, even while occupied. My girlfriend's kitten loves the cubby part so much that she insisted on sitting in it while I was still putting it together. When I added the toys though... she got REALLY into it.The sound isn't too bad, but it gets annoying when the cat keeps playing with the balls for several minutes, so I don't recommend putting it in your bedroom or near your desk. The scratching boards will probably wear out fairly quickly, but they can be replaced easily. The rest of it should last awhile. The cat was so interested in it that she didn't care about the box it was shipped in. Because of that, I didn't need the catnip to get her to use it, so I didn't have to deal with any smell.Definitely worth getting! I might order a second one to leave on the other side of the house. The picture is a bit blurry because the cat wouldn't sit still.
I bought this scratcher hoping Haimet would use it occasionally. Instead, it has become her favorite spot in the house. She absolutely loves it!Haimet sleeps in the little hideaway, lounges with her head hanging out of the opening, scratches both the vertical and horizontal surfaces, and spends a good portion of her day playing and relaxing in it. She uses it so much that I joke its her apartment and Im just paying the mortgage. The design is much more versatile than a typical cardboard scratcher. It gives her a place to scratch, hide, nap, and play all in one. The hanging toys were a nice bonus, and it was easy to assemble. For the price, Ive been really impressed with how much use shes gotten out of it.Pros:* Vertical and horizontal scratching surfaces* Cozy hideaway that doubles as a nap spot* Keeps my cat entertained and comfortable* Easy to assemble* Great value for the price* Helps protect my furniture from unwanted scratchingCons:* The cardboard will wear down over time with heavy usebut thats exactly what its meant for.* Your cat may become possessive of it!If youre on the fence, I would definitely recommend it. Haimet spends so much time in hers that I would happily buy another one when this one finally wears out. Its one of the best inexpensive cat purchases Ive made.Five stars from both Haimet and her human! ?????
The item itself is good. However, it does not come with any instructions on how to assemble and you mostly need 2 people to do so.
I recently got the YEMOO L-Shaped Cat Scratcher, and its been a fantastic addition. The L-shaped design is really smart because it fits perfectly along the wall and even protects the corner of my couch, which used to be my cats favorite scratching target. Since setting this up, Ive noticed a huge drop in unwanted scratching on my furniture.
It was small
Is was harder, need 2 people
I liked for my cat but my cat doesn't even pay attention and it's good
The holes didn't line up so it never became sturdy enough to use normally. I turned it on its side, and the cats used it for a while, but I ended up throwing it out :( If it did work in the correct position, with the inability to replace the cardboard it's really a temporary toy for kitties.
I have a few 8 lb and 11 lb cats that like to use this. It remains pretty sturdy and stable (no rocking/shifting/shaking) while being scratched, through normal perching and rough play (although extreme zoomies has caused it to fall over). There's enough space between the bottom and top shelf, so they can easily stand, walk and crouch, which encourages even my more shy cats to use it.Assembly was the biggest pain. They include all the screws you'll need, and a special shaped screwdriver, and a page with the same picture twice of the unnamed parts. For some reason I thought they had a video, but I couldn't find it, so I compared the page with pictures from other reviewers, and I was able to get it. I initially started assembling it wrong, coz I had the shorter cardboard piece at the bottom, but the shorter one goes vertically. Even with messing up, it took less than 30 minutes to assemble.Definitely worth trying out if your looking for something sturdy that fits well in an open area of a room or even tucked under a table.
Cat scratcher is cute, unfortunately its not as described. Its not sturdy at all. It tips over as soon as the cats try to play with the toy that was provided.
Just what we were looking for !The wood sides screw into the cardboard scratchers , which makes it more sturdy than other/similar scratchers .Our cats seem to love it and it has stopped them from using the furniture !
A bit tricky to assemble without someone to hold. They sent plastic screwdriver with plastic screws which worked pretty well. Kid sat on top and snapped it so we turned it on its side. Cats liked it but did not last long after that due to kid throwing up on it. Cute design though.
My alpha cat loves this thing. She sleeps on it bc it sits in the sunlight coming thru the window. Loves to scratch it and occasionally plays with the balls when she's feeling hyper.
